We left off last time finishing up Genesis chapter seven.

So we're going to jump right now into Genesis chapter 8, beginning in verse 1.

And God remembered Noah and every living thing.

And all the cattle was with him in the ark.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:01:12

And God made a wind pass over the earth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:01:15

And the waters of sage, in other words, they started going away.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:01:18

The fountains also the deep.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:01:20

And the windows of heaven were stopped.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:01:21

And the rain from heaven was restrained.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:01:24

And the waters returned from off the earth continually.

And after the end of the 150 days, the waters were abated.

And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the 17th day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

So from start to finish, so far they've had five months of floating around.

And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month.

And in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.

So three months more till the mountaintops appeared.

All right, so we have five months floating around.

Three more months now, and the mountaintops appear.

And it came to pass at the end of another 40 days.

That Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.

And he sent forth a raven which went forth to and fro till the waters were dried up from off the earth.

He also sent forth a dove from him to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground.

But the dove found no rest for the soles of her feet.

So she returned to him in the ark.

For the waters were still on the face of the whole earth.

And they put forth his hand, took her in and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

And he stayed another seven days.

And again he sent forth the dove out of the ark.

And the dove came to him in the evening.

And in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off.

So Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

So at that point in time has been 11 months and 17 days that they've been there.

Verse 12.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:02:58

He stayed another seven days and sent forth the dove, which did not return to him again anymore.

So that was now the 24th day of the 11th month.

It came to pass in the 601st year.

In the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth.

And Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked.

And behold, the face of the ground was dry.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:03:23

And in the second month, on the 27th day of the month the earth was dried.

So it's now been one year, one year in the ark.

And verse 15, God spoke to Noah, saying, go forth from the ark, you and your wife, your sons, your sons, wives with you.

Bring forth with you every living thing that's with you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:03:48

Of all fish, fowl, of cattle, of creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly in the earth and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth, Noah went forth, his sons, his wife, his sons with him.

Every beast, every creeping thing, every foul, whatsoever creeps upon the earth after their kinds went forth out of the ark.

And Noah built an altar unto the Lord and took of every clean beast, a clean beast.

And of every clean, foul, every burnt and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Did God command this of Noah?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:26

Did God command an offering from Noah?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:29

No.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:30

It was offered out of praise and thanksgiving by Noah for bringing him through the flood and preserving his.

His family.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:37

Preserving the.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:38

Using him to preserve life on the earth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:40

Right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:41

So when you give God a love offering.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:44

When you give a love offering, that's not required.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:47

You're doing it out of the love of your heart.

God responds by blessing you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:04:54

Let's see what.

What happens now here in verse 21.

And the Lord smelled a sweet savior.

A sweet smell.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:02

And the Lord said in his heart, I will no longer again curse the ground anymore for man's sake.

For the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth.

Neither will I again smite any more every living thing as I have just done.

Verse 22 is a very important verse, and I want you to understand it in the sense of seed, time and harvest that we talk about and sowing love offerings and all that.

While the earth remains.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:27

Is the earth still here right now?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:29

Are we still physically in the earth?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:31

Yes.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:32

Is the earth still physically here?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:34

Yes.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:35

While the earth remains.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:37

Seed, time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Now, I like saying it like this.

While the earth remains.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:50

And we're still here right now.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:05:51

So while we are still in the earth right now, seed, time and harvest will remain.

Cold and heat will remain.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:06:03

Summer and winter will remain.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:06:05

Day and night will remain.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:06:07

It will not cease as long as the earth remains.

Praise the Lord.

Let's move on now to Genesis chapter nine, beginning in verse one.

And God blessed Noah.

Now, what did I just say?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:06:20

Noah offered this sacrifice, this offering out of his love, out of his appreciation for what God did for him.

And God smelled it again.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:06:30

I want to reemphasize when you offer an offering to the Lord out of the love of your heart, God responds by blessing.

Herod.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:06:40

Chapter 9, verse 1 says, and God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth.

And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moves on the earth, upon all the fish of the sea.

For into your hand are they delivered.

That means they now have dominion over all the animals.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:06

Now stop and think about this.

For over a year, these animals have been on the ark.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:10

Who's been feeding them?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:11

Who's been taking care of them?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:13

Who's been cleaning them?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:14

Who's been cleaning up their messes?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:16

Noah and his son.

So these animals have gotten used to having these people around here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:21

God's saying he's bringing that separation now where the animals will no longer want to be around them.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:27

They'll be afraid of them.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau: 00:07:29

And that's what we see in nature today.

Verse 3.

Every moving thing that lives is meat for you.

You can eat it.

You can eat it all.

Every living thing.

So this stuff about, well, this pork is.

You know, folks, it says here, every living thing is meat for you.

Now, the Jewish customs of, you know, what you got from the law, right?

The dietary restrictions in the law, they were established for a reason, which was, you know, to make sure that they're eating healthy and all that.

And those are still good to follow.

All right, but is it a sin to eat pork chops?

No.

Pork chops are good.

But the point I'm trying to make is it's a personal preference of you.
