Speaker A:

Hello, everyone, everywhere.

Speaker A:

Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.

Speaker A:

Welcome to your daily 15 minute Bible walk.

Speaker A:

We're so blessed you're joining us today.

Speaker A:

Last time we left off with Genesis, chapter 27, verse 40.

Speaker A:

And we'll begin today in verse 41.

Speaker A:

Now set the stage.

Speaker A:

Remind you in case you haven't played this all the way through, we've seen where Isaac and.

Speaker A:

And had just been tricked into.

Speaker A:

I should say Esau.

Speaker A:

No, Isaac had just been tricked by Jacob to get the blessing stolen from Esau, okay?

Speaker A:

And Esau came back, found out what happened.

Speaker A:

And Isaac, we left off last time with verse 40 where he basically told him, you know, the blessing, you got to serve your brother, but there will come a point in time when you'll become restive, is how the, the, the translation actually goes, which the NIV gives a translation of when you just get fed up.

Speaker A:

When you get fed up of serving him, then an anointing will come upon you where you'll break his yoke from off your neck.

Speaker A:

All right?

Speaker A:

And that's a message for us today.

Speaker A:

That's where we left off at last time.

Speaker A:

That's a message for us today.

Speaker A:

An example I used was generational curses.

Speaker A:

Now, serving the Lord with all your heart, but you're still struggling in whatever areas, right?

Speaker A:

And could be your grandfather, your great grandfather, your great great grandfather did something that brought a curse on the family, and you're the one who's still dealing with it today.

Speaker A:

Well, you finally get, instead of just saying, well, that's the way we are, you know, that's the way we've always been.

Speaker A:

Our family's been living like this, you know, we just can't catch a break when you finally get just so fed up.

Speaker A:

Now, I'm not questioning your salvation and things like that, okay?

Speaker A:

I'm just saying you, you want to be blessed more than you're blessed because you want to serve and you want to do stuff that for whatever reason, it seems like it's just not working out for you.

Speaker A:

Chances are there is some curse somewhere that got put on your family, a family ancestor, and it's being passed down.

Speaker A:

Well, you can break that chain.

Speaker A:

You can break that chain and that generational curse can stop with you.

Speaker A:

So moving forward, everyone is blessed.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Including you now.

Speaker A:

But what happens is, as we just seen in verse 40, you have to get fed up.

Speaker A:

You have to get restive.

Speaker A:

You have to get.

Speaker A:

The one translation says restless.

Speaker A:

In other words, when you finally had enough, then an anointing will come upon you and you will break that yoke from off your neck.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

And then you will be walking in the complete blessing.

Speaker A:

And all you touch will be blessed to the Lord.

Speaker A:

Praise God.

Speaker A:

So that's where we left off last time.

Speaker A:

Just wanted to go over that again to catch everybody up in case you missed that prior episode.

Speaker A:

All right, now, verse 41, Genesis 27, verse 41.

Speaker A:

And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing which his father had blessed him with.

Speaker A:

And Esau said in his heart, the days of mourning for my father are at hand.

Speaker A:

Then I'm gonna kill my brother.

Speaker A:

I'll slay my brother.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna kill him.

Speaker A:

Once Dad's dead, I'm gonna kill him, right?

Speaker A:

And these words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebecca.

Speaker A:

And she sent, called Jacob, her younger son, said unto him, behold, your brother Esau is touching you.

Speaker A:

Does comfort himself by planning how he's going to kill you.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

Now, therefore, my son, obey my voice.

Speaker A:

Last time, he obeyed her voice.

Speaker A:

This is what brought all his on.

Speaker A:

He said, now obey my voice.

Speaker A:

Arise.

Speaker A:

Flee to Laban, my brother, to Haran.

Speaker A:

Go to my brother Laban, who lives in Haran, and stay with him for a few days until your brother's fury turns away.

Speaker A:

Now, one translation.

Speaker A:

That few days is a few years, okay?

Speaker A:

Until your brother's anger turns away from you and he forgets what you've done to him.

Speaker A:

Yeah, good luck with that.

Speaker A:

All right?

Speaker A:

And then I will send and I'll fetch you from there.

Speaker A:

For why should I be deprived of both of you in one day, both your dad and you?

Speaker A:

Because as soon as your dad's dead, he's there to turn around and kill you.

Speaker A:

And Rebecca said to Isaac, I'm weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth.

Speaker A:

If Jacob.

Speaker A:

Now she's going in to get permission to send Jacob away, okay?

Speaker A:

Rebecca says to Isaac, I'm weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth.

Speaker A:

If Jacob takes a wife from the daughters of Heth, such as these, which are the daughters of land, what good will my life be to me?

Speaker A:

So she's raised trying to get the Jacob here, or, I'm sorry, Isaac to say, yeah, you can go ahead and send Jacob over there so he doesn't marry one of these girls around here, because remember, Esau already did.

Speaker A:

And they.

Speaker A:

They weren't happy with that.

Speaker A:

So that was the out to be able to get Jacob out of there.

Speaker A:

Plus, Isaac is probably thinking, yeah, send Jacob away so Esau can have everything.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

So that's part of the plan also there.

Speaker A:

So that concludes chapter 27.

Speaker A:

Let's continue to roll this right on over into Genesis, chapter 28, verse number one.

Speaker A:

And Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, charged him and said to him, you will not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

Speaker A:

I want you to go to Pandaram, to the house of Bethel, your mother's father.

Speaker A:

Take you a wife from there of the daughters of Laban, your brother's mother or your mother's brother.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

And God Almighty himself.

Speaker A:

All my El Shaddai, God Almighty, El Shaddai shall bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become a multitude of people and give you the blessing of Abraham to you and to your seed, your descendants with you.

Speaker A:

And that you may inherit the land wherein you are a stranger.

Speaker A:

In other words, go over there and live.

Speaker A:

Just stay over there so Esau can have all this.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

This is the plan here, right?

Speaker A:

Which in God gave to Abraham.

Speaker A:

And Isaac sent away Jacob.

Speaker A:

And he went to Pandaram unto Laban, son of Bethel, the Syrian, the brother of Rebecca, Jacob and Esau's mother.

Speaker A:

Verse 6.

Speaker A:

When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Pandaterim to take him a wife, from there they blessed him and he gave him a charge saying, you shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

Speaker A:

And that Jacob obeyed his father and mother and was gone to Pandanaram.

Speaker A:

Esau, seeing that the daughters of Canaan did not please Isaac, his father, he went out to Ishmael, remember him, to Ishmael, and took wives which he had.

Speaker A:

Mahalath, the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nebraj, to be his wife.

Speaker A:

And Jacob went out from Beersheba and went towards Heron.

Speaker A:

And he lighted upon a certain place and tarried there all night because the sun was set.

Speaker A:

And he took of the stones in that place and put them up for his pillows to lay down in that place to sleep.

Speaker A:

Now people wonder, why would he want to sleep on a rock?

Speaker A:

He used the rocks to elevate.

Speaker A:

Probably his jacket lay on there.

Speaker A:

Something like that.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

And I want to back up just a minute here.

Speaker A:

Is getting ready to wrap this one up.

Speaker A:

Esau was trying to get back at Jacob for giving Isaac reverse that.

Speaker A:

Esau was trying to get back a little bit at Isaac for giving Jacob his blessing.

Speaker A:

And when he seen that, you know, they didn't want him to take a wife from the daughters there, he went to Uncle Ishmael.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

He went to Ishmael and married one of Ishmael's offspring in order to keep the bloodline going.

Speaker A:

You could say, okay, he wanted to stay in the bloodline.

Speaker A:

Abraham, he didn't want take a wife that was not in the bloodline of Abraham.

Speaker A:

So Ishmael here is being honorable, if you want to call it that.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

He knows that his dad doesn't want him to marry Ishmael's children, right?

Speaker A:

But he didn't send him to get someone from the bloodline.

Speaker A:

He sent Isaac.

Speaker A:

So here, you know, Ishmael's thinking, I'm sorry, he sent Jacob.

Speaker A:

These three names are running in my head here.

Speaker A:

Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Esau, all that.

Speaker A:

So he sent.

Speaker A:

He's seen that, that Isaac sent Jacob away so he could marry someone in the bloodline.

Speaker A:

It didn't want them to take any of the daughters from around here.

Speaker A:

So Ishmael says, well, I'm going to marry somebody from around here just to get back him.

Speaker A:

Since he didn't send me, I'm going to do it.

Speaker A:

But at the same time, he's thinking, I've got to maintain the purity of the bloodline.

Speaker A:

I have to at least have Abraham's blood in my offspring, because that's where the blessing is, is in the bloodline of Abraham.

Speaker A:

All right?

Speaker A:

So to help in that regards, he said, well, Uncle Ishmael has, you know, his.

Speaker A:

His descendants are around here.

Speaker A:

I'll.

Speaker A:

I'll go and marry one of his.

Speaker A:

His descendants.

Speaker A:

And that's what he did here.

Speaker A:

Okay, so where are we at?

Speaker A:

Okay, still got a few minutes left.

Speaker A:

Now we're over here.

Speaker A:

Verse 10 through 11.

Speaker A:

We talked about him laying down.

Speaker A:

He's tired, days far spent, now he's laying down.

Speaker A:

He stacked a couple rocks, put his coat on and laid down for us.

Speaker A:

Use the rocks to help as a pillow.

Speaker A:

Verse 12.

Speaker A:

And he dreamed.

Speaker A:

And behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and the top of it reached all the way to heaven.

Speaker A:

What he's seeing here is a portal into heaven in his dream.

Speaker A:

And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending through this portal on this ladder.

Speaker A:

And verse 13, behold, the Lord himself stood above it.

Speaker A:

And he said, I am the Lord, God of Abraham, your father, and the God of Isaac.

Speaker A:

The land where you are lying, to you I will give it.

Speaker A:

And to your seed, your seed, your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth.

Speaker A:

And you'll spread abroad to the west, to the east, to the north and to the south, in you and in your seed, all of the families of the earth will be blessed.

Speaker A:

And behold, I'm with you.

Speaker A:

And I will keep you in all places, wherever you go.

Speaker A:

And will bring you again into this land.

Speaker A:

For I will not leave you until I have done that which I've spoken to you of.

Speaker A:

Verse 16.

Speaker A:

Jacob woke out of his sleep and said, surely the Lord Jehovah is in this place.

Speaker A:

And I didn't even know it.

Speaker A:

And he was afraid and said, how.

Speaker A:

How dreadful is this Is none other than what the house of God.

Speaker A:

Here this is.

Speaker A:

This is the gate of heaven.

Speaker A:

This is the gate to heaven right here.

Speaker A:

Jacob rose up early in the morning, took the stone that he had used for his pillows and set it up as a pillar and poured oil upon the top of it.

Speaker A:

And he called the name of the place Bethel, the house of God.

Speaker A:

But the name of the city is called Luz at first.

Speaker A:

And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, if God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go and he will give me bread to eat and raiment to put on so that I come again to my Father's house in peace, then shall the Lord Jehovah be my God.

Speaker A:

And this stone which I've set for a pillar shall be God's house.

Speaker A:

And all that you shall give me, I will surely give you the 10th of to you.

Speaker A:

So what did he do?

Speaker A:

The presence of God.

Speaker A:

He asked if you'll be with me.

Speaker A:

The presence of God be with me.

Speaker A:

You keep me in the way should I go.

Speaker A:

The presence of God be with me.

Speaker A:

God's protection will be with me and will give me bread to eat and raiment to put on.

Speaker A:

That's physical provision.

Speaker A:

God be with me.

Speaker A:

God protect me.

Speaker A:

God provide for me so that I can come again to my Father's house in peace now.

Speaker A:

So number four is peace of mind.

Speaker A:

The peace of God be with him.

Speaker A:

So he has the presence of God, the guidance of God, the protection of God, the provision from God, the peace of God.

Speaker A:

The fifth one is that I will build for you here God's house and that all then the Lord God shall be my God.

Speaker A:

And I'll make this the house of God.

Speaker A:

And all that you have given me, I will give you the 10th thereof.

Speaker A:

There's the establishment of the tithe right there.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

He says, if God will be with me and never leave me, God will protect me and never forsake me.

Speaker A:

God will provide for me, so I'm not lacking anything.

Speaker A:

And God's peace will guide me every step of the way.

Speaker A:

That I will serve you.

Speaker A:

You will be my God forever.

Speaker A:

And I've set this pillar up as a memorial and remembrance so that I won't forget and everyone who comes by here will understand.

Speaker A:

This is the house of God.

Speaker A:

This is what another translation was, the portal to heaven.

Speaker A:

And I will give you a tenth of everything you give me.

Speaker A:

The more you bless me with, the more I bless you with.

Speaker A:

And that's all the time we have for today.

Speaker A:

We concluded chapter 28.

Speaker A:

We'll continue with chapter 29, Genesis 29 next time.

Speaker A:

Till that's passed about.

Speaker A:

Remind you, be blessed in all that you do.

About the Podcast

15 Minute Daily Bible Walk
Verse by Verse Through The Bible
This has been a project I have been contemplating for a long time.

Join me in walking through the Bible on our personal Bible study - one verse at at time. There is no "preaching" here. Just simple scripture reading with brief explanations and examples of what the scripture mean.

I was inspired to do this project based upon the program "Through The Bible" with Dr. Jay Veron McGee (who is passed on to be with the Lord for several years now). When I first started to study the Bible, his radio program helped me immensely. It took Dr. McGee 5 years to do a complete Bible Study.

I do not know how long it will take us. But you can start listening at anytime. My goal is to create a new episode each and every day (365 days per year).

Of course, "sometimes" life will get in the way (for many reasons). But I will pick it right back up where we left off (and try to catch up the days that were missed - to help keep us on track).

As I continue to add more episodes, you can join us at the most recent program or start at the beginning. Each episode is labeled as to the scriptures we are going to discuss.

I am so blessed you are here and I pray you will get a huge blessing as we join together in a "15 Minute Daily Bible Walk!" Amen!

About your host

Profile picture for Robert Thibodeau

Robert Thibodeau

I am a 12 year Army veteran as both enlisted and as a commissioned Cavalry Officer.
I am now a retired law enforcement supervisor...

I had my own business for seven years before I entered law enforcement.

As a cop, I was injured on the job on May 12, 2007 and after several surgeries over a couple of years, forced to retire in 2011.

As I was looking down the road to “what am I going to do next?” I started what is now known as a podcast (I had no clue at the time).

Within six months of starting (what I called) “My online radio program” I was offered an opportunity to be on nationwide AM radio. I learned A LOT in one year of doing that!

I then started the online Christian radio platform "Evangelism Radio" in the fall of 2010. It has had listeners in 160+ nations and all 50 states. We host 50+ Christian broadcasters on a weekly basis. We have been operating 24/7 for almost 14 years now. We have been rated #1 in the world by Shoutcast. com on several occasions in our genre. We recently transferred ownership of Evangelism Radio to another ministry so I could concentrate full time on podcasting, preaching and writing.

In 2018, I started the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast to conduct interviews with Christian influencers from all walks of life and to play their interviews on the radio station. (The KCR Podcast has its own time slot on Evangelism Radio)!
We now have over 1600 episodes and almost 1100 interviews (in just over 6 years).

Looking out at the future of online Christian media, I noticed there was no viable platforms that catered only to the Christian podcast market.

In 2023, we launched a networking platform called, "FaithCasters" which connects "Great Christian podcasters with Great Christian Guests!" This helps to promote the work you do through podcast interviews! Check it out at https://FaithCaster.org

We recently launched "FaithCaster Academy" which serves as a training hub for ALL of our trainings (podcast training / speaker training / interview training, etc.). Members receive access to ALL of our training programs for one low, monthly membership fee. Members also receive FREE access to ALL of the LIVE trainings I conduct (1 or 2 per month) - while non-members have to pay to access the live trainings.

Between my podcast training program, conducting podcast interviews, appearing on other podcasts as guests, speaking at conferences (in person and virtually) and the podcast networking platform, I guess you could say “I’m all in” when it comes to podcasting and online media!

My total focus is to do all we can to assist you to “Get The Word Out” about your mission, services, products, ministry, books, business, etc.
