Hello everyone, everywhere.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Welcome to your 15 minute daily Bible walk.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:We're so blessed you're joining us here today.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:In the prior episode, we left off, we finished up with Genesis chapter 13, where Abram had finally obeyed God and separated himself from his family.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Lot was the last remaining member.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They'd hung out together and now there's starting to be this contention between his tribe and.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Or his servants and Lot's servants.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So he said, you know, we can't do this.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:We're family here.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Just pick which way you want to go and I'll go the other way because the land's not big enough for both of us.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And in 13, we said Lot lifted up his eyes in verse 13, chapter 13, verse 10, and he looked at the plain of Jordan and he.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:This is before Lord had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So first he's looking at sin, and then Lot chose him the plane of Jordan and journeyed east towards there.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And so first you look at sin, next you move towards sin because it's drawn you in.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And then you partake of sin.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And that's where Lot messed up, right, because he figured he, he could, you know, he's, he's rich enough, he can be one of the rulers over there.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He can be one of the honchos in this town, right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And that's, you know, it says in verse 13, chapter 13, verse 13, men of Sodom are wicked and sinners before the Lord.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:But he, in verse 12, you know, it says that he dwelled in the cities of the plain, pitched his tent towards Sodom.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:In other words, first he looked at it, then he moved towards it, then he lived there.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He partook of the sin.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He may not have been partaking of the homosexuality and all that stuff, but he was making, we'd say he was, he was doing all right for himself in Sodom and Gomorrah.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right, now let's go to verse chapter 14.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:It came to pass in the days of Amrafel, king of Shinar, Ariak, king of Eleazar, Chedalamar, king of Elam and title king of nations, that these made war with Bera, king of Sodom, and with Bersha, king of Gomorrah, Shinab, king of Admah, and Shemabur, king of Zibeum and king and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All these were joined together in the vale of Siddom, which is the salt sea.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:12 years they had served Chatel Amar.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And in the 13th year they rebelled in the 14th year.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Cheddar came and the kings that were with him and smote the refiums and Ashtarath, Karnam and the ziziums and Ham and the Imams and again my Hebrew and Greek and Aramaic and all that probably is way off, but I'm doing the best I can here.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Shave Radio Karithium, verse 6.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And the Horites and their Mount Seir under Elperon, which is by the wilderness.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So he took over the whole area.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:His armies are invading now, right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And they returned, came to in verse seven, came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites and also the Amorites that dwelt in Hazian Tamar.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And there went out the king of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah and the king of Adamah and the king of Zibeon and the king of Bela, the same as Zoar.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And they joined the battle with them in the vale of Sidim with Chedalamar, the king of Elam and with title king of nations and Amraphel, king of Shinar and Arioch, king of Elisar.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Four kings, basically four kings against five.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And the veil of Siddham, right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Now the four kings here, the, the soldiers came and they routed the entire region because of the rebellion.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:That's basically what's happened here.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:The armies invaded to get everything back under control because these guys were rebelling against King Chatel Amar.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right, so verse 10, chapter 14, verse 10.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:The veil of Siddham was full of slime pits.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled and fell there.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They got stuck so that they remained.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Those that remained fled to the mountains.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So here we see.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Basically this is what happens in our cities today, isn't it?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They rebel against authority.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They think we don't need you, we, you can't tell us what to do.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They rebel.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And because they rebelled, the cities fall into disarray.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:People start losing things.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They're going without.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Basically the cities become slime pits.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Just saying, all right.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And those that remain flee the cities.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Think about that.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:That's one of the big problems of the inner cities, major metropolitan areas today.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:People just finally they get up with all the wokeness and all the liberal, you know, things going on and they just decide they're going to move out.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Where do they usually move too, by the way?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They move over into the conservative area, the law abiding citizens, because that's safer and they want their kids to grow up in good schools that, you know, teach morals and morality and things like that.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And not into, you know, where they can't even define the difference between a boy and a girl.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:I'm just putting that out there.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Yep, I agree.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:I.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:I heard somebody say amen and I agree.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Amen.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Verse 11.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Because they, the kings fell there and they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, all the vexuals and what their way.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son who dwelt in Sodom and took all his goods and departed.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Now why would they want Lot stuff?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Because he had more than anybody else.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:That's why.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He was one of the, the honchos over that area.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So not only they take his stuff, they took him too.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right, so four kings and these soldiers took Lot and spoiled all the cities in the area, all right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And remember, the area, go back over here is called Mamre, which is the plane of fatness, right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So this is a very well taken care of here, a very profitable area with farming communities and all this stuff.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:We, we read all that.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And so these kings came in.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They just spoiled the whole area.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They took all of the, the kings, they took, you know, their servants.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:That and Lot was one of the honchos of the city at this point in time.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:That's why they took him and all his stuff too.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They took lots, took Lot, Abram's brother's son who dwelled in Sodom, and his goods and departed.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Verse 13.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:There came one that had escaped and told Abram the Hebrew for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre, the Amorite brother of Eshkol and the brother of Anar.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And these were confederate with Abram.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Okay, so Abram, he's the only Hebrew in the area, right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So they probably said, you know, we need to go tell.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:You know, Lot probably sent word or something.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Go tell Abram the Hebrew.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:You know, that.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:That what's happened here.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And a Lot Abram's the only Hebrew in that area, right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Now.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Remember, this is the land of Canaan.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Verse 14.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:When Abram heard that his brother, well, it's really his nephew is.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He was talk, you know, like, you know, Brother Bob, Brother Joe, right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:But here he's talking about family.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:His Lot was.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:His nephew was taken captive.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He armed his trained servants.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Understand what that meant?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Abram didn't depend on armies.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He depended on his own servants.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He trained his own servants.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:What were they being trained in?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Why would they need to be trained and.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And you know how to fight and things like that.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Because they had a lot of stuff.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:There's a lot of people who want the stuff other people have.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So to protect it.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He had his own security force, basically, is what we.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:We're reading here.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He had his own security force.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He personally trained how to defend the stuff.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So here, you see, he armed his trained servants born in his own house.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:These were not captured slaves being made to do this.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:These were people that were born in his house and he was taking care of them.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They were loyal to him.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He was loyal to them.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:318 people and pursued unto Dan.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So now you have 318 people gonna take on 4 kings and their armies.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right?
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He divided himself.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Abram decided, divided himself against them.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He and his servants by night and smote them and then pursued them.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:They were being beat so bad, they took off running.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And he pursued them onto Hobah, which is on the Left Hand of Damascus.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:And he brought back all the goods.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He brought back everything.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He just let the kings go.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:He brought back his brother Lot or his nephew Lot, and all his goods and all the women also, and all the people.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:I mean, he's bringing the whole group back, everything.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:The kings took Abram with 318 people, defeated four armies and is bringing all the people and stuff back home, is what this reads.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right, verse 17.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Actually, we're going to stop right there because I want to spend some time on this.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:All right.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Yeah, I want to stop right there for today because it might take me two days to get.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:I don't know.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:I'll be led by the Lord on it, but I'm.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:I want to spend some time from verse 17 to verse 24.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Amen.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:We might get through it in the very next episode, but then again, it may be the episode after that when we finish, depending on how the Lord leads.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Amen.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Praise God.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:So we'll pick it up right there in Genesis 15, verse 17 tomorrow.
Pastor Bob Thibodeau:Till then, this Pastor Bob reminding you to be blessed in all that you do.
